Tower Watching Solstice – Sofia Larsson | Fine Art Print

No boats. No people. No string of town lights along the shore.

Just a tower on frozen ground, snow going blue at the edges, and a sky doing something enormous over the top of it. Green pouring into magenta into cold blue. Nothing in the way.

Look at the window

One window in that whole stone tower is lit, and it is the warm thing in a picture full of cold. That is the detail your eye finds after the sky has finished with you. Somebody is in there. Somebody is awake, keeping the light going, while the aurora does whatever it likes overhead.

Then look at where the water meets the sky. Sofia keeps that line razor sharp and low, so the sky gets almost everything. I took four hundred photographs of this horizon. The painting has two lines in it. That is how she works. She pours the sky, lets it move, paints three things, and stops. The pale gold at the water’s edge is warmth without heat, a January afternoon.

Ruby, one of our critics, put it plainly: “This print beautifully balances the drama of the aurora with the serenity of the frozen landscape.” It scored 8 out of 10.

On your wall, in real life

Archival matte paper, smooth and non-reflective, which means you can hang it facing a window and still see the aurora instead of your own ceiling lamp. Printed edge to edge, no white border, so the sky runs right to the edge of whatever frame you already own — or looks right pinned up bare. It arrives rolled in a tube, nothing to assemble.

Landscape. Most people take the 24 x 18 in (61 x 46 cm) at $49 — it’s the one already selected. Go 32 x 24 in (61 x 45.7 cm) above a bed. The small 16 x 12 in (41 x 30 cm) is $29 if you want to be sure before you commit a big wall.

It’s a high quality print of a digital artwork, made to order, up to ten business days plus delivery. Free shipping in the continental US. The price you see is the price — no auction, no bidding, no number nobody can trace.

Who should skip it

If your room is busy, bold, full of pattern, this will look lost. It is for a bedroom or a bathroom or anywhere people want to breathe. Calm is not the absence of anything. It takes work.

Take it home if that’s your room. If you’re still thinking, go see what else Sofia has made — or follow her, and the next sky arrives in front of you first.

One is a piece. Two is a set. Three is a collection.

Almost nobody stops at one. A second work by the same hand turns a wall into a pairing. A third turns it into something you chose rather than something you bought. There are 6 other works by Sofia Larsson available.
