The composite holds the ground
Canvas is cotton and polyester woven together, then coated so it takes ink without bleeding. The turquoise is saturated enough to read as hot, not cool, which is the trick. If it were sky blue the piece would be pleasant. This one has attitude.
The black stencil of the man in his guayabera is clean-edged, no overspray, and the cracked pastel ground reads as Miami before you have consciously registered it.
