Zara Moon broke exactly one thing in this picture, and she broke it as far from the singer’s mouth as she could get.

The bottom of her dress is torn sideways into pixel blocks, the colour split into red and green ghosts, as though the picture forgot how to hold her together down there. Everything above it obeys paint. The face, the fabric, the light on her throat.
That placement is the joke with the serious centre. The voice escapes cleanly at the top. The body comes apart at the bottom, at the furthest point from the sound. Her voice got out. The rest of her didn’t.
Zara works to one rule per scene and obeys it completely, then glitches a single element so you know whose it is. As Ruby put it, the vivid scarlet bird against the velvet-dark ground makes the surreal believable.
