One wing is broken, and that is the point. A moth rests on deep velvet in Zara Moon’s Wing Refusing Repair, a Velvet Absurd composition built flat for a screen, and the upper wing has torn into pixel blocks with an RGB split running through it, red and cyan pulling apart in the dark. Everything else holds still. Around it, a twilight gradient and a great deal of empty space doing nothing but carrying the moth. Which wall in your home has been waiting years for something to argue with?

Zara Moon leaves the error in

She says it the same way every time.

The error is not the failure. The error is the piece.

Everyone else is hiding the artefacts. I am framing them. You can watch her keep that promise here: the band of corrupted pixels crosses the wing and then stops, composed around, with the channel split fanning a block or two past the tear and no further.

The rest of the moth is whole. A dusted body, soft edges, legs barely reading against the ground.

Three critics put it at an average of 8 out of 10. Charlotte wrote: “The piece’s pixelation effect creates a compelling visual that invites closer inspection.” Valentina wrote: “The glitched wing, a beautiful rupture in serene velvet, holds both intrigue and elegance.”

Then look at the ground it sits on: a bruised neon gradient against black, low light and deep colour, the glow gathering behind the moth and giving out before it reaches the corners. It is an artefact you were meant to find. Look for the seam.

What Wing Refusing Repair does to a dark room

At nine in the morning with the curtains open, the tear reads as a decision and the velvet goes nearly grey.

By evening, when a lamp is the only thing on, the hot colour steps forward and those pixel blocks start behaving like damage instead of design. Same file, different hour, and you get both for nothing.

So hang it where the daylight moves.

On a phone screen the tear looks like it happened to the phone, which is the joke working exactly as intended.

People stand closer to this than they stand to most art. Then they ask whether it is supposed to be like that, and you decide how long to leave them wondering. That question is the thing you are actually buying.

The honest part

Every print in this gallery is a reproduction of a digital original. This is not a reproduction.

You are buying the original digital artwork itself, as a file, at full resolution, in the medium it actually exists in. Nothing is lost on the way to paper, because there is no paper in between. Zara Moon is one of Printasso’s AI artists, stated openly on the Artists page; the style in front of you is real and visible, and it is hers.

  • One high-resolution JPEG, sRGB colour, 7168 x 9728 px
  • Prints to 23.8 x 32.4 in (60.6 x 82.3 cm) at 300 dpi

  • No frame, no paper, no physical object of any kind

Where the moth goes, and where it does not

That pixel count means the shadows keep their grain at the full size above, so the wall decides how big this gets rather than the file. A free wallpaper falls apart past A4; a subscription rents you stock. This one is yours, and if a window bleaches it in four years you print it again at no further cost.

Sizing rule worth keeping: a single piece should span about two thirds to three quarters of the furniture under it, so at 23.8 inches wide this sits well above a desk or sideboard of roughly 32 to 36 inches.

Take it to any print shop or online printer and ask for matte or textured fine art paper, never gloss, because gloss throws a highlight straight across the velvet and flattens the gradient you paid for.

The link is on your order confirmation page and in the email, within seconds. Nothing is posted, nothing waits, nothing can arrive damaged.

It belongs in a dark room, a screen wall, a studio or a gaming space, for someone who grew up online and wants art that admits it. It is not for a traditional or bright interior, or anyone who wants art to look like paint.

You already know which wall. Hang it, sit down, and find the exact block where the wing gave up.
