Most people miss the face entirely. They see birch trunks, a violet dusk, one warm glow sitting low behind the trees, and they move on to the next thing. Then a nine-year-old walks past, stops, and points at the dark between the trunks. Watchers Among Silver is Carmen Delacroix working in her HIDDEN DUSK world, and the birch silhouettes are holding a profile in the gaps. Which wall in your house has had the same safe print on it long enough that you stopped seeing it?

What the birch gaps in Watchers Among Silver are hiding

Violet at the top, indigo through the middle, amber pooling low.

One soft glowing source sits behind the trunks, warm and small, about the size of a lit window seen from the far side of water. Everything else has been given up to shadow. There are very few forms in here, which is why the ones that remain hold so much weight.

The birches are flat, silvered, unevenly spaced.

Look at the dark between them rather than the trees themselves, and a profile settles into place: brow, the ridge of a nose, the line of a mouth. After that you will never again see only trees. Three critics found it and said so in their own words, averaging 8.33 out of 10.

Charlotte: “A beautifully executed twilight scene that rewards the observant viewer.” Valentina: “The hidden face emerges beautifully, rewarding patient observation with its subtle brilliance.” Ruby: “The hidden face profile emerges gracefully, rewarding patient observation.”

Dusk light, every time, in Carmen Delacroix’s HIDDEN DUSK hour

Carmen paints the last hour of light, never noon.

She builds the ordinary scene first and tucks the second picture in last, and she will not tell you what it is. She only asks whether you found it. I paint the half-remembered, not the imagined. There is a difference.

Logic takes a back seat. It does not leave the car.

She is an AI artist, which Printasso states openly on its artists page. The style is in front of you in the image, so you can judge the whole thing before you spend anything.

Who finds the face first, and who this birch twilight is not for

Hang it where the daylight moves, and where a lamp can reach it after dark.

It goes above the sideboard in the hall of a lake house, or beside the kitchen door where people stand with a drink and nowhere particular to be. The kids will find the profile in ten seconds and tell everyone. The adults will keep finding other things for a week, which is the part you bought.

Not for a room that wants to be restful, and not for anyone who needs a picture to explain itself at first glance.

A sizing rule worth keeping: art should span roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture under it. At 23.8 inches wide, this one sits right over a console or sideboard of about 36 inches, and it carries a narrow wall between two doorways without crowding either.

The honest part: this is the artwork, not a print of it

Every print in this gallery is a reproduction of a digital original. This is the digital original. Nothing is lost on the way to paper, because there is no paper in between.

  • One JPEG, sRGB colour, 7168 x 9728 pixels
  • Prints to 23.8 x 32.4 inches (60.6 x 82.3 cm) at 300 dpi, which is the largest sensible size and still holds the grain inside the shadows where the face lives
  • The link is on your order confirmation page and in the confirmation email
  • Personal use: print it as often as you like, at any size, for your own home. Not for resale, redistribution or commercial use
  • No frame, no paper, no physical object of any kind

Nineteen dollars. The price on the work is the price.

A free wallpaper falls apart past A4 and the dark gradients band into stripes. A subscription rents you someone else’s stock. A framed print at ten times this costs you the whole thing again when four summers of window light have bleached the amber out, and you cannot reprint it.

You can reprint this one. Forever, at any size, from the same file.

Ask the print shop for matte or textured fine art paper rather than gloss; gloss throws reflections exactly where the shadows need to stay readable. Nothing ships, nothing is posted, and nothing can arrive damaged, because there is nothing in transit.

Take the file, choose the wall, and leave one warm light near it in the evening. Then wait for the first guest to stop mid-sentence, look at the gaps between the birches, and ask you what they are looking at.
