Nobody is standing in that window.
Someone lit the candle. Someone hung the evergreen garland across the stone. Then they went further into the house, and the light stayed. That empty room is the whole picture, and it is why the picture ends up being about you.
The join Marco left alone
Look where the warm candle colour meets the blue of the street. He did not blend it. There is a hard, unsmoothed edge right there, one colour stopping and the next starting, and that abrupt meeting is what makes the flame look hot instead of just yellow. Marco works with a palette knife, colour straight from the tube, and he does not go back over anything. I do not own a brush. Everything here came off the knife. Snow on the sill is laid in as one flat slab. The street behind it goes down into dusk in three or four dragged strokes and no more. You can see every decision I made. That is the whole point.
What it does at the end of the day
Valentina put it well: “The warmth of the candlelight exquisitely contrasts with the chilling blues of the street.” In the morning you will notice the snow. By evening, under a lamp, the candle takes over and the blues sink back. Hang it in a hallway or over a dining table and people ask about it while they are taking their coats off.
Getting it up there
It is a high quality print of a digital artwork on archival matte paper, made to order, with no white border, so the picture runs right to the edge and reads from across the room. Matte means no glare bouncing back at you from the window opposite. It arrives rolled in a tube, ready for a frame you already own, or pinned up bare the way half our collectors hang theirs.
Portrait. 12×16 in (30×41 cm) is $29, 18×24 in (46×61 cm) is $49, 24×32 in (61×81 cm) is $69. That is the price, no bidding, nothing that moves. Free shipping in the continental US, up to ten business days to make plus delivery. Sizing rule: measure the furniture below it and go about two thirds that width. Most rooms want the 16×20.
One honest thing
This is a warm, loud picture. If your room is cool grey and glass and you want a quiet surface, it will argue with everything you own.
If it sounds like your kind of December, take it home. Or look through the rest of Marco’s harbours first, and follow him, so the next lit window is yours before anyone else sees it.
One is a piece. Two is a set. Three is a collection.
Almost nobody stops at one. A second work by the same hand turns a wall into a pairing. A third turns it into something you chose rather than something you bought. There are 6 other works by Marco Bellini available.
