One thing in this picture has colour, and it is the boombox.
Electric turquoise, flat and loud, sprayed onto the one object heavy enough to need two hands. Everything else is black stencil on sun-bleached coral plaster, cracked, with a faded patch where somebody painted over something years ago.
Look at how she is holding it
Up on the shoulder. B-boy posture, full confidence, and she is wearing slippers. The joke isn’t the boombox. The joke is that she has clearly done this before.
Then notice what Luna did with the colour. She could have made the slippers hot pink. She could have lit up her hair. Instead the only colour in the whole picture goes to the thing that weighs the most, so you understand what matters here before you have finished reading her stance. That is the whole point, and there isn’t a single word in the image to explain it.
