The motion is everything: cloth airborne, flowers spilling color, and one heel just leaving the ground.
I paint people who do not know they are being watched. I paint the ten seconds before they notice you are there. This one is a tram dash in Nice—market flowers in her arms, her dress catching the air, that single moment when a walk becomes a run.

The dress lifts on purpose
She is running, so the hem comes up. The patterned fabric—small florals, deep plum ground—lifts and folds as the body moves through it. I painted the pattern as carefully as I painted her face.
The fold line where the dress catches air is where the knife went in. One sharp accent of Naples yellow, then nothing. That is the hinge the whole picture turns on.

The flowers spill their colour before she does
Market flowers—anemones, ranunculus, something with a fat peony head. She is holding them like groceries, not like a bouquet, and they are tilting as she moves. The coral and the magenta bleed forward. They arrive before she does.
Ruby wrote that the brushwork captures both the rush of the moment and the vibrancy of the Riviera. I will take that. The Riviera colour is not about beauty. It is about saturation—the ten seconds when the light is fat and low and everything looks like it has been dipped.
Valentina said it needs a unique touch
Valentina wrote that the piece captures the brief’s color and movement but needs something to stand out. I disagree, but I see what she means. This is not the painting where I break the method. It is the painting where the method does exactly what it is supposed to do: cloth, motion, flowers in the frame, and a woman who does not know I am looking.
The weave of the linen shows through in the sky. Thin paint over raw ground. That is the surface, and the surface is part of the picture.
For a kitchen, a hallway, or a landing—anywhere that wants colour and movement without asking you to stand still and think about it. Not for a minimalist room or anyone who wants the painting to be quieter than the furniture.
