Most pictures on a wall just sit there. This one looks like it has a light on inside it.

One balcony, second window up, already glowing — and warmer than the whole orange sky behind it. Somebody got back to the room before everyone else. Down below, the boats are still nodding in dark water. The cafe awnings are still up. The town hasn’t switched on yet.

The bit you’ll notice on day three

Look at where you’re standing. Not out on the pier taking the postcard shot. You’re one step down an alley, one table back, tilted up at the tall Ligurian faces of the houses — terracotta over ochre over rose, stacked and leaning. That tilt is why the buildings feel taller than they were. It’s how you remember the place, not how a camera saw it.

Marco paints towns after he’s left them. Broad knife-cut slabs of colour in the water, dragged strokes, and always exactly one light lit before the rest. As Ruby put it, the eye goes straight to the glowing focal point and stays.

What happens once it’s up

Balcony Already Lit – Marco Bellini | Fine Art PrintWarm light reads across a room. At four in the afternoon the sky in it goes soft and that little window still holds. Guests ask where it is. If you’ve been, you’ll say Portofino before they finish the question.

Sizes and the price

A high quality print of a digital artwork on museum-grade archival matte paper — smooth and non-reflective, so a window opposite gives you the harbour back, not your own ceiling light. Printed edge to edge, no white border, so it looks right pinned up bare or slid into a frame you already own. Portrait, and most people take the 16 x 20 in (40.6 x 50.8 cm). Go 18 x 24 for a hallway. $49 for the middle size, free shipping in the continental US. Made to order, so nobody on your street has this one.

One honest thing

It’s a calm picture. Nothing is about to happen in it. If you want movement and drama on your wall, this isn’t yours.

Balcony Already Lit – Marco Bellini | Fine Art PrintIf it is, take it home. Or go look at the rest of Marco’s harbours first — and if you follow him, you’ll see the next lit window before anyone else does.

One is a piece. Two is a set. Three is a collection.

Almost nobody stops at one. A second work by the same hand turns a wall into a pairing. A third turns it into something you chose rather than something you bought. There are 6 other works by Marco Bellini available.
