A cruise ship. Eleven decks of it, cut as a crisp black stencil. And out in front, roped to all that weight, one tiny rowing boat with one person in it, pulling. The oar is sprayed electric turquoise, and it is the only colour in the picture.
The part people miss on the first look
Nothing in the picture strains. No motion lines, no spray of water, no face pulled tight with effort. Luna cut the stencil clean and let the scale do all the talking. The rower is just rowing, the way you just go to work.
Look at the wall behind it too: sun-bleached pastel plaster, cracked, with a faded patch where something older got painted over. And the cruise ship is the Miami motif hiding in plain sight, the thing that parks itself in the middle of a city and expects to be towed. Where it lives
A kitchen, a bar wall, a hallway you move through fast. Guests find it, laugh, then ask what it is about, and you get to say nothing and let them work it out. Not a bedroom. Nothing here is restful.
