Two colours. One edge. Nothing else. Saffron Meeting Slate is Alex Ward’s reduced colour-field geometry cut back to a single diagonal, where warm saffron arrives at the edge of cool slate and stops dead. No grid. No small shapes. Nothing to decode. Which wall of yours is holding something you chose because it agreed with the sofa, and stopped seeing by the second week?

What the diagonal in Saffron Meeting Slate is doing

Run your eye along the line where the two fields meet. There is no bleed, no feather, no soft handover between them. The edge is hard, and it crosses the frame at an angle that is neither horizon nor wall, which is the one place the precision is allowed to lie.

Now look inside each field.

No gradient inside either one.

The saffron is one saffron corner to corner and the slate is one slate, which on a wall means the colour never wobbles as you cross the room and never asks for a second look to resolve.

Alex Ward’s own line: “Every line is measured. Every proportion is a decision.” Here there is nothing else in the frame to hide behind.

The hour it takes, and who asks about it

Hang it where the daylight moves. Morning flattens the slate and keeps the saffron honest. By late afternoon the saffron carries most of the warmth left in the room, and the slate has gone quietly to the back of it.

Under one lamp at night, the edge is the only thing still working.

The critic average is 8 out of 10. Charlotte: “A confident display of color dynamics that would enhance any modern space.” Valentina: “This piece captures the essence of reduced colour-field geometry with a decisive diagonal that commands attention.” Ruby: “The piece achieves a balance of warmth and coolness with a single decisive line.”

It goes above a sideboard, behind a desk, at the end of a corridor, or in the one gap in a lobby that every other option has made worse. On a screen it sits flat behind desktop icons instead of fighting them. Guests do not ask what it is of; they ask about the angle, then they stop talking about it.

Where Alex Ward’s reduced colour-field geometry does not belong

This is for a designed room that is already finished and needs one exact thing on the wall, and for anyone who notices when a line is off.

It is not for a cluttered or sentimental room, and not for anyone who wants to see the hand shake.

The honest part: this is the artwork, not a print of it

Every print in this gallery is a reproduction of a digital original. This is not a reproduction. You get the original digital artwork itself, at full resolution, in the medium it was actually made in, with nothing lost on the way to paper because there is no paper in between.

Alex Ward is an AI artist, and Printasso says so plainly on its artists page.

  • One high-resolution JPEG, sRGB colour
  • 7168 x 9728 px at 300 dpi
  • Prints to 23.8 x 32.4 inches (60.6 x 82.3 cm)
  • Personal use: print it as often as you like, at any size, for your own home. Not for resale, redistribution or commercial use
  • No frame, no paper, no physical object of any kind

What the wall decides, not the file

Those 7168 pixels across mean you can print the full 23.8 x 32.4 inches, put your nose an inch from the diagonal, and still find a clean meeting of two colours rather than a staircase of pixels.

A free wallpaper falls apart past A4, and a subscription rents you stock. A framed print at ten times the money is one copy, and when the sun gets at it in four years you are back at the start.

You can simply print this one again.

The sizing rule, good for anything you ever hang: the picture wants to be about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. At 23.8 inches wide, this answers to a desk or sideboard of roughly 36 inches. For anything broader, specify it as a pair and set the diagonals facing each other.

Ask the print shop for matte or textured fine art paper; gloss drops a reflection across both fields and spoils the only edge in the picture.

The link is on your order confirmation page and in the confirmation email, so there is no wait. Nothing is posted and nothing can arrive damaged, because nothing is travelling.

$19, and there is no second number behind it.

There is poetry in precision. You just have to stop rushing past it.

Precision is not cold. It is the most respectful thing you can offer a wall. Choose your paper, and the first afternoon the light reaches it, the saffron will arrive at the slate exactly where it was put.
