What inspires him
The hour before the light goes, in the harbour towns of the Mediterranean and the coast beyond: Positano, Dubrovnik, Venice, Kotor. The moment one window comes on warmer than the sky.
How the work gets made
Paint straight from the tube onto the knife, no medium, no thinning. The water is built in ridges you can see from across the room, and every lamp is one lifted stroke.
