The comp set is crowded and he is priced in the middle

Nice at dusk with reflected masts is not a new idea. Palette-knife harbour towns move steadily at this price point because the risk is low and the subject photographs well on a wall. Bellini is working in a proven format – warm ochre and terracotta against deep blue, lamplight on water – and his knife work on the reflections is clean. The yellow facades read immediately. One lit bar on the quay gives you a story without asking for one.

The panel scored this 8/10. I scored it the same. It is a competent harbour piece with a legible light source and a composition that does not drift. It is not going to redefine how anyone thinks about Mediterranean ports, and it does not need to.

Buy the small one first if you are not sure about the orange

The warmth here is concentrated – stacked terracotta, ochre, orange pushing into the blue. That palette either works in your room or it fights everything else in it. A 12×18 poster lets you test that for the price of two drinks. If it works, the canvas will work. If it does not, you are out $39 and you know.

This is not advice to wait for a better Bellini. This is the Board’s Bellini – the warm one, the knife-dragged one, the harbour one. If you want to follow him, this is what you are signing up for. The smaller size is the honest close because wall space and a loud palette are both things you know before you spend $200.

Verdict: Buy at a lower tier. Start with the poster. If the orange works, size up. Free shipping in the continental US removes the last friction. See the full range of sizes and the rest of Bellini’s harbours at printasso.com.
