Look at where the steam crosses. It drifts up from the alley exactly where the face would be, so you never get it. You get the shoulders, the umbrella, the turn – and nothing else. Yuki does that on purpose. You will never see her face, and that is the whole picture.
Then notice the colour underneath. The sky is indigo, not blue, and the stone runs amber where the lanterns hit the water. Two temperatures, one alley. It is why the path looks genuinely wet instead of just dark.
