A jetty is a thing built to take you somewhere. This one goes out over the water and then simply stops.

The bit you notice on the second look
The jetty ends about two thirds of the way up. It doesn’t reach the horizon, and there isn’t much of a horizon to reach. So your eye keeps going anyway, out past the last plank, into open tone.
